How to paint over a dark wall with Accent
Dark walls can create a sophisticated mood in the home and are often added as striking feature points. But if you’re no longer loving your dark walls or are simply after a change, it’s easy to update your home’s colour palette by painting over them. The key is to use the correct products, saving you precious time, money and effort. ENSURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT
You will need:
1. WASH
To start, clean your walls with Accent Sugar Soap before painting even if they don't look dirty. Sugar soap will remove any grease and grime that might stop new paint from adhering to the surface. Make sure the sugar soap is completely washed off prior to painting. Lay down the drop sheet to protect the floor.
2. MASK
Protect surfaces that you don’t want to get paint on with masking tape. Mask skirting boards and around plugs or light swtiches for a clean paint edge and to avoid accidental splatters.
3. CUT IN
Mix the Accent Paint & Prime In One Interior paint well with a wide flat stirrer in a circular,lifting motion. With a paint brush, cut in around edges and corners where the roller can’t reach. Keep a wet edge for rolled paint to blend evenly.
4. PAINT & PRIME IN ONE
Load roller with an even coverage of Accent Paint & Prime In One Interior paint. Start on the left at the edge and roll in an overlapping zig zag or ‘W’ motion across the wall to ensure even distribution. Work in sections and while the paint is still wet, lay-off as you go with an unloaded roller. To lay-off, start at the top and gently roll down the wall using no pressure. Overlap slightly and work your way across the section. Allow a minimum of 2 hours for the paint to dry and apply a second coat.
