Tips and tricks to clean up your garden

We all love summer. The heat, the beach, the late sunsets… the list goes on. But if we’re honest with ourselves, it’s fair to say that we can neglect tasks and chores. And often, they can be in
your garden. Whether it’s your grass browning from the heat, your overgrown bushes, or something in between, we’ve got you covered with a few ways you can get your garden back into ship shape for entertaining.

1. Prune it back

Autumn is the best season to get your garden in order. The heat has gone, the ground is moist and the air is comfortable. So before you begin planting new seeds, take stock of what’s already growing and prune them back so they’re ready to flourish in Spring.

That means trimming trees, pruning flowers, and clearing fallen leaves. Our picks to get you started are the Stanley FatMax V20 18V Pole Skins to trim your trees, and the Makita 36V Brushless Turbo Blower Skin to blow it all away!

2. Revive the dead summer grass

Getting your grass green again can feel like a chore, especially if lawn care has been neglected over the hot summer months. During the heat of the summer, your grass can get dry, overgrown and discoloured.

No worries, it’s fixable. Get started by running a lawn mower over the grass and getting it trimmed. We recommend the highly rated Makita 36V Brushless Lawn Mower Kit to do the job right, first time. Yes, you heard that right. We know that Makita are known for power tools, but their mowers also get top marks.

Next, pick up your fertiliser and get started. Follow the instructions on whichever fertiliser you choose and keep at it. Fertilising during Autumn is great, as it protects your lawn during winter and sets roots for Spring.

3. Get rid of those leaves ASAP

You know what’s worse than loads of leaves in your garden that grandma can slip and break a hip on? Leaving those leaves for months and letting them turn to sludge.

Alright, maybe grandma breaking a hip is worse.

But you get the point. Do yourself a favour and pick up a leaf blower and make sure those leaves stay crispy somewhere other than in your garden (can we suggest a compost?). A great option is the Makita 36V (18V x 2) Brushless Turbo Blower. It’ll do the job right, first time.

Autumn is the perfect time to get your garden in order. The weather is comfortable and you’re (hopefully) energised for a great summer. So why not take a leaf out of our book and get your garden back to its best.
